Njord

Njord Vingaard, a 1.2-hectare field, is located close to Holbæk, which from 2010 has been planted with a variety of Pinot Noir called Pinot Noir Precosé, also known as frühburgunder. This is a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape, which effectively ripens earlier in our latitudes. The small and almost secret wine house is run by Sune Albertsen.

Sune’s vineyard has a slope of 27 degrees and is planted with various clones of Frühburgunder, the clones GM4 and GM6 from Ahr and developed at Geisenheim, clones from Weingut Julius Wasem in Ingelheim in Rheinhessen, and the clone ST180 from Schloss Sommerhausen in Franconia.

And each clone is vinified separately, all clusters are stalked 100%, and the clones are all very different in expression, which Sune uses when the final wine is to be collected. The wine is stored – in oak barrels, and Sune uses 33% new barrels for each vintage.

The first vintage from Njord Vingaard was 2013, of which only 838 bottles were produced.
Sune also works with the production of a little sparkling wine and wine at Pinot Noir, but it is difficult to find information about this small, secret Danish wine house. But that’s a damn good little secret.
