Friuli is one of Italy’s most esteemed regions for the production of white wines and is divided into areas whose names are gradually gaining ground.
This winery was founded in 1922 by Antonio Ermacora when he and his family bought the farm Ipplis and 4 ha of fields located immediately around the physical property itself. At that time, a differentiated agricultural production began, which the son Marino continued when he took over responsibility for the operation right after World War II. Towards the end of the ’70s, the family decided to focus on the activities and focus exclusively on wine production and today it is the brothers Luciano and Dario, Marino’s two nephews who are responsible for the production, which takes place traditionally and in the spirit of Marino.
The land area has over the years been expanded to 47 hectares of vineyards, all located in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, Friuli’s eastern ridge, which constitutes one of Italy’s most renowned growing zones for especially white, but also red and sweet wines. Friuli was 100 million years ago below sea level, and this may help to explain why the wines from here seem to have a particularly recognizable salt and mineral quality that individualizes their character.
The hills and marine deposits were bent up by Africa and the Wegener continental drift, creating the estimated wine regions Colli Orientali and Collio, which were later reshaped and shaped under the effects of the ice age.
The climate is mild and allows the cultivation of a large variety of grape varieties. Ermacora believes in territorio-specific plantings that cater to the individual variety and they work in ways that ensure a low environmental impact. Ermacora’s wines have long been recognized as pure, fresh and varietal representatives of the area’s ability, and they are not least affordable, which is a rarity in a region known for not holding back in that regard. At the same time, over the years we have experienced an incredibly stable quality and a stringent trading relationship in all context. Top professionalism throughout.
